Background of the Lawsuit

Panera Bread recently settled the first of four lawsuits connected to health problems and fatalities allegedly linked to their now-discontinued Charged Lemonade drinks. One tragic incident involved Sarah Katz, who had Long QT Type 1 Syndrome, a condition that can lead to heart arrhythmia. Katz reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away in 2022 after consuming a Charged Lemonade beverage that she was unaware contained caffeine.
