Discover the latest developments surrounding Bloomin' Brands Inc. and its fast-casual Aussie Grill concept. Learn about the company's expansion and recent adjustments in the restaurant industry.

Bloomin' Brands Inc., a renowned parent company to popular casual-dining chains like Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, has been a prominent player in the restaurant industry. Among its array of dining options, the fast-casual Aussie Grill concept has recently undergone significant changes.
Initially starting as a spinoff from the famous Outback Steakhouse chain, Aussie Grill by Outback aimed to provide a more fast-casual dining experience to customers. In 2020, Bloomin' Brands introduced a standalone drive-thru version of Aussie Grill in Lutz, Florida, marking a new chapter in the concept's expansion.
Despite its promising beginnings, Aussie Grill's growth trajectory faced adjustments over time. While the concept had eight domestic locations at one point, recent developments have seen a reduction in the number of outlets, with only a few remaining operational. This strategic shift indicates Bloomin' Brands' responsiveness to market dynamics and consumer preferences.
The changes in Aussie Grill's footprint coincide with Bloomin' Brands' financial performance. The company's third-quarter results showed a decline in net income and revenues compared to the previous year. Same-store sales across Bloomin's domestic system also exhibited variations, reflecting the competitive landscape within the casual dining sector.

As Bloomin' Brands navigates through changes in its restaurant portfolio, including the Aussie Grill concept, industry observers are keen to see the company's strategic direction. With a diverse range of dining brands under its umbrella, Bloomin' Brands continues to adapt to evolving consumer preferences and market conditions to stay competitive.
