KFC tests a modern Original Recipe prototype in Orlando across 16 locations, blending speed, warmth, and tech to refresh a familiar favorite.
Orlando has long carried the memory of Original Recipe—the crackle, the aroma, and that welcoming moment when a box sits on the counter. The Orlando test marks a thoughtful pivot: 16 neighborhoods become a living lab for a refreshed dining experience built around a streamlined signature menu, a handful of tech upgrades, and an interior that feels brighter without losing its softness. It’s a quiet kind of reinvention, designed to invite you to slow down a little in the middle of a busy day. The question left hanging is simple: can speed and warmth share the same counter?
Original Recipe sits at the center of the Orlando program, with streamlined offerings and a few new guests at the table. The menu introduces Original Recipe Tenders, an expanded set of dipping sauces, and a broader frozen beverage program. The Twister Wraps—both Classic and Spicy—remain on the list, each featuring two tenders, crisp lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a choice of pepper mayo or a spicy sauce wrapped in a tortilla. Design changes brighten the interior and carry a Stay Original branding, while kitchen teams fry smaller batches more often to keep chicken hotter and fresher. A leadership voice helps anchor the rollout: “It’s about delivering on KFC’s original promise of the best-tasting fried chicken, made hot and fresh, at great value, served quickly and consistently, by people who are kind and hospitable,” said Tarun Lal. The Orlando initiative, Park Ave Magazine notes, places a premium on speed, warmth, and clarity in a modern setting.
Original Recipe is the anchor, still guided by the iconic preparation first perfected in 1940 by Colonel Sanders. The prototype introduces a tighter menu, adds Original Recipe Tenders, and pairs them with a brighter interior and a Stay Original branding that signals hospitality as part of the recipe. The approach blends heritage with a modern tempo, inviting familiar flavors into a space built for speed without sacrificing warmth.
The update isn’t only about what you eat—it’s how you get it. The kitchen operates in smaller, more frequent batches of Original Recipe fried chicken to ensure hotter, fresher results, while digital upgrades reshape ordering and delivery. Expect digital menu boards, self-serve kiosks, and a kitchen display system that coordinates timing and assembly. Taken together, these moves promise speed with reliability across the Orlando batch as part of a cohesive, speed-forward experience.
